I think it's good they don't play any new material, creates a whole excitement around it, i just wonder how would the album be named...

What a great "shock"! Me wanna use it too Ivy (hope that's ok?!)
Wonderful - absolutely Wonderful News! I'm so pleased to hear this!
I was down in the dumps - my firm decided they weren't going to take us all out on a cruise up the Thames this year, nor were they having a party, and I get out so rarely - I'm so excited!

space cowboy
I hope the sound goes a bit back to the "Return of the spacecowboy"era.
Although it's an oldie, that's my favorit song/album.
Whatever they'll do, when they are performing live "Deeper Underground" is a must perform song. _________________ Funkin fan of JK and the band |

In general I am pretty sure they won't go "back" to anything. They will go onwards and this will mean new stuff.
I spoke to Derrick the other day and wanted to know which direction we can expect, but he couldn't even tell me... he said they are writing and coming with all sorts of different styles and grooves.
I think, those who expect them going back to a certain stye will be dissapointed. It will surely be something different, something new in a way. I am open for everything!

I love NEW ...as long as it stays in the funky zone im cool with it!!! ...i like being suprised don't get me wrong trotsc is classic and so is twm etc etc...but what reeeled me in...in 2005 was their new stuff ..it helped me understand their older material...and keeps them fresh....and their sound distinct. Thank you Cosmic.
what Id like to know is how will their new material ...affect their live performances..will we see the same or should expect something different ....
yesh ....again! |

I really really don't mind if they don't go back to their eariler stuff. It's Jamiroquai, as far as I (I, myself) can tell, there's hardly anything I didn't like at all or thought it was awful.
Although sadly, we're gonna have all those "it doesn't sound like it used to" topics, messages, and users.
The band is moving on, I think that's a good thing.

Hi,
I myself am excited about their "new" unrelieved direction, and let's keep in mind that they said that they "threw" the computers away.. although I'm not totally convinced that this is physically true but some kind of more analog approach is in the air, I'm sure. Atleast that what somebody from the band said.. Jay? Derrick? _________________ Geuze |

I want to remind you guys to the interview I did with Derrick some time ago, and I am gonna quote two answers from Mr. D about the new album:
| Quote: |
Meike: Will you be involved in the writing processes for the next album then, now that you are free of the previous record company?
Derrick: Well, I am much more involved in the writing process now, and we are doing the whole of this album live so there is no machines involved at all, how funny that is – one minute machines are in, the other they are not needed at all, but it just goes to show can’t beat the real deal at the end of the day!!!!!!!!
Meike: Jay has given a glimpse into the Jamiroquai future by hinting that the band will return to its musical beginnings with horns, strings and an overall acid jazz element. Although the style has dramatically changed over the past 15 years, what are your personal feelings about revisiting the roots?
Derrick: Ok to be honest, Meike, the roots of the music have never left me for one minute. It was actually the business side of the band that left me to be honest, like I said previously the drums are an integral part of the band and we have always done our own thing when it comes to the music. I have no feelings at all about revisiting, it’s always been there, I feel that the band slightly lost its way and will get back on track through this album – we will go in the right direction for the future of jamiroquai, I am sure!!!!!!!!!! |
